Same sort of story here. I bought two 256MB modules for my Dell Dimension 8250 and paid $127.50 for them on Aug 08.

Now they are going for at least $150 and up.

Hopefully chip companies are seeing more sales and profits.

YZ - There are better prices for Smart Media cards by checking price comparison sites. I assume likewise with other cards as well. Yesterday I bought two of the Kingston 128MB SM cards for $ 30.10 each, from Dell, and free shipping. The Kingston 64mb SmartMedia is going for $17.06 before $10 mail in rebate, also from Dell. I find ebay sellers charge very high shipping cost.

I finally bought an Olympus digital camera recently due to the much more affordable memory cards. I have not bought one before because the ridiculously high cost of the sticks. The digital camera industry should get a big boost.

Thanks for posting the links to Atmel. Looks like there are nice advances in image processors. Is that the reason for such steep price drops in all types of memory cards? Also from oversaturated card manufacturers? Or, are these cards going for the museum soon?

How and where can I get easy updates on what memory devises are forthcoming in 2 years, and 5 years from today?
