re: WDC

To me it looks like monster move down, then a monster move back. Two times before WDC has run up to this level only to turn back each time. I call that large resistance. Since the moves happen so fast a fair amount of investors could have been caught off guard and still holding the bag, at least they think they are. For me, today's move, and quickness of the recovery, are the tells. WDC had hardly any reaction to the widespread selling that happen today, which I like to see. So, to tie it all together for making a buying decision. I would only start with fraction of the money I would like to commit. Then watch how WDC reacts further to the market at large. If it holds in the face of market wide selling, I would commit more. Since the resistance or weak hands, isn't showing up in WDC's action. (Nothing better then seeing a stock hold in the face of market wide selloff. JMHO) Then if breaks out of the resistance level it's now, and stays or moves higher, I would add more.. and so on as WDC returns to old trend line.

As far as Cup and Handle.

Since all of the back and worth happen over a sort time span I would not call it a cub at all. I like to see the cub form over much longer time span, like 6 or more months in a nice smooth without much stock movement like formation. LOL.

I'm going to add WDC to the port attached to this thread.

Greg

now that is getting close to what I like to see in a cup and handle. too short still, none the less, it has return to and gone past the resistance levels that have built up. Not only that, it has done it one day like today. Since I'm already and owner of FCEL, I would add now, if I wanted to add more money to holdings in FCEL that is, which I might. <gg>
