There is an article in today's Wall Street Journal at
some length that the governors of California, Oregon and Washington were going to work together to reduce greenhouse-
gas emissions through moves such as buying more hybrid cars for state-gov't fleets. They went on to state this could amount to a significant number of hybrids without stating a number which now are only sold in the US by Honda and Toyota. Might this give the big three a little push?

An earlier article by the big three stated their marketing emphasis would be placed upon the superior performance (acceleration) first, then fuel economy second, with no reference made to lower emissions. Interesting isn't it?

The higher performance cannot be achieved with the misch-metal hydride batteries initially marketed by the Japanese where patents have expired. They have to be ECD's newer, more powerful batteries covered by ECD's patents. That issue still has to be resolved later this year when the lawsuit against Matsushita is scheduled to take place.

Regards.
