Especially if there are a pile of market orders that pour in before the market opens.

I hope it was clear that what I quoted a couple of messages ago (in bold face) was what someone else said and not what I thought!

There are a lot of people getting pulled into trading stocks over the last fifteen years who imagine they have experienced everything possible or else know what everything possible might be. They throw around the jargon. I wodner what happens to rock climbers of similar mentality.

I have been in the market since 1968 and I am still learning. But I sure know enough to realize how easy it is to get burned on the short side. Even the most experienced traders can find themselves in a corner.

The sweatiest experience I had was maintaining a pretty large short position on XLK all through 1999 but happily was well margined. I finally made a profit (small). Made much bigger money when everything finally went over the hill.

Don't you just love people who try to put you down by predicting the past? <G>

Sounds like gold might do quite well this week--if the dollar is down as much as someone said it was earlier today.
