I agonized over this and my first inclination was to post as you did. However, I can see the virtue of letting him off, but IF he were to acknowledge the WMD, admit his crimes against his people, publicly urge the people to cooperate with the US or UN to implement a democratic and just government, and publicly urge Iraqis to forget about jihad by everyone who calls himself a mullah, then this could likely save lots of American and Iraqi lives. It's really a conundrum because I often compare him to a mini-Hitler and then ask myself, "Would you let Hitler off if you could save a million souls or so?"

I personally would let him go. We will eventually find him and his weapons but there are some more pressing issues than his life

1) France and Germany are uniting Europe against US. Information about WMD would totally discredit France and UN would be forced to provide troops under any US conditions. Europeans would also have to put up some cash

2) Democrats platform right now is mainly Iraq. WMD would evaporate any chances of democrats winning elections and sending us deeper into economic hole.

3) 1/3 of small Belarus is contaminated with radiation so maybe he would get a villa that glows in the dark

4) There are on and off talks between Russia and Belarus of either stronger economic ties or a union similar to US states. If either of this talks would ever to succeed then sadam is a toast. With muslim terror raging in the chechniya russia would unlikely to harbor sadam

plus sadam got prior ties to belarus
