RE:"Hate to see a real estate thread focusing on political candidates"

Agreed...

RE:"Why would a military guy want to be president, except to perhaps come out of retirement and get back to being a top banana in the military"

Dunno...
Not since Eisenhower I guess.

Seems its easier to make hard choices on foeign issues than domestic issues. Vote pandering I guess.

re:Clark: got eased out of his last job partly because of his personality quirks and isn't known as being easy to get along with.

See what I mean, if you meet a guy (or gal as the case may be) with credentials like this in your personal life... RUN.

Perfect people are a heartache, every time. Just stick with the fat slobs, and the world is a happier place... :-)

As I recall ? listening to cnbc or some such program he recommended to Clinton that for Yugoslavia. A few days of bombing would make the difference and stop hostilities. After eleven weeks of bombing runs he then recommended sending in ground troops. After which Washington/Clinton/Nato then removed him.
I've been looking for twenty minutes but cant find a link but no luck.

He voted Reagan and Bush Sr and admits he knows little about domestic issues. I found this bit which I suppose explains his demo choice of party?

WORD WAS THAT Karl Rove, the president’s political mastermind, had blocked the idea. Clark was furious. Last January, at a conference in Switzerland, he happened to chat with two prominent Republicans, Colorado Gov. Bill Owens and Marc Holtzman, now president of the University of Denver. “I would have been a Republican,” Clark told them, “if Karl Rove had returned my phone calls.” Soon thereafter, in fact, Clark quit his day job and began seriously planning to enter the presidential race—as a Democrat.
