Clark is not the insider's choice except as Vice President. He is in the race for his own reasons, but also was a human blockade against Bushie military photo ops and flag waving.

Clark still has a long way to go before he convinces the party leaders he is ready for the #1 job. To do that he'll need to out-perform them all in the primaries and not make any serious mistakes. He'll also ned to prove he knows domestic issues.

The insider's choice for the top job are Kerry or Gephardt. Lieberman I assume is not going to make it far.

Dean is the one they all agree must be stopped because Bush can beat him rather easily. Dean has strong grass roots support but little else. He was the darling of the press but now Clark is. Not a single powerful endorsement I have heard about either. I dont think he'll be referred to as "the frontrunner" anymore. He'll be lucky to sustain 2/3rds of what he had going in August and may not even win New Hampshire.
