Eric,

Aside from Bitfone and DoOnGo, I have identified Red Bend and a small shop in France called Open-Plug (see link below). I am not certain about Blue Iguana being in the same field.

Red Bend seems to be just getting into OTA system updating. Bitfone and DoOnGo have the named backers, however, it is from the venture capital side of the corporation. The operations side may opt for the best product, which I think may be the SSP product from INSG. Also, I'm guessing that the Java accelerator phones will favor the INSG solution. That rollout should be later this year or early next year.

My confidence in INSG grew when I noticed that Bitfone has not named a single customer since it announced general availability of its product in September 2002. DoOnGo started with a cabled update service and recently went to OTA. In any event, the overall market is shareable, however, I expect a good chunk of it to go INSG's way.

One thing that I thought was odd was that Bitfone did a PR this summer indicating that they had a meeting to discuss forming a common standard. There are already standards bodies that are addressing these issues. I saw that announcement as a weak ploy to steer the direction from a path that Bitfone was not on and INSG may have been on (getting back to my previous comment on defacto standard).

That is just my opinion and I could be wrong. I also could lose big with INSG, however, my shares were acquired at low prices. Its a gamble that I think is worth it.

Nice chatting with you.
