political battles are not won on facts, they are won on perception- you know this. And Bush has a large perception problem with the middle class. David Letterman is making jokes about "write your tax dollar check to Halliburton".

From surplus to deficit and what did the middle class see for it, nothing. Bush doesn't even try to cover up his cronyism. I doubt he can overcome the perception, which is based in reality at least for now.
