If the dems are so smart and patriotic, why didn't they (and why don't they) assist with some substance, rather than simply harangue? Arm chair quarterbacking is easy. Calling for a coalition is easy. But I haven't seen them make any tough decisions in the wake of 9/11. Why? Because to the left and not-so-far left, acquisition and maintenance of power prevails over everything else. There are actually some on the left who would like nothing more than to see a successful terrorist attack right before the election to hurt Bush and help them at the polls. To them, the human carnage would be just a cost of (political) war, justified by their assent to power.
