So many lies, so little time --
This week’s abominable decision by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, to delay the recall election
True, it's unwise. Better to let the existing machines work, properly supervised.
stands as a clear indication of the epic political struggle that is taking place in America
A joke. It's an indication of a legal decision on voting machines that don't work 100%, vs computerized ones that are designed to be spoofed.
While sentiment against the war in Vietnam was considerable, those calling for immediate withdrawal of American troops never achieved majority status.
A joke. The majority wanted Americans out as soon as the truth was known, which is why the furor over the Pentagon papers that showed absolute lying from DOD and eventually, the White House.
they were simply unable to present their opposing viewpoint in any sort of a reasonable forum, since those who controlled the dissemination of information were clearly unsympathetic to their cause.
The mainstream media supported the war, yet was forced to show the carnage, since it was the first time in history battlefields were able to be shown the next day on national television. Mainstream media dutifully reported all gov't propaganda, even the lies later exposed by the Pentagon papers. Subsequent history shows even more clearly the extent of deception by gov't and its officials.
President Richard Nixon trounced the antiwar candidate, George McGovern, in the 1972 election, with McGovern winning only one state
This was due to superior financing and the redoubtable Karl Rove and Donald Segretti's dirty tricks. The GOP was simply better at fighting dirty, and keeping Tricky Dick's criminal acts under wraps, until after the election, if you recall.
In the latter part of the 1980's, a watershed event occurred in the battle for the American culture with the advent of talk-radio giant Rush Limbaugh’s nationally broadcast program
This is due to massive overt and covert funding from the various parasites in the woodwork. Roger Ailes, ABC, William Casey, et all, all played a part in advancing the cause of hate-radio. Limbaugh was the talent they were looking for, and promoted to the benefit of the Big Government boys, leading to massive DOD funding increases and ongoing goodies for the good old GOP.
Alternative media, such as the Fox News Channel
LOL! Calling Fox "alternative" is the funniest so far. Here's a question -- if you were to invent an official Government Channel, how would it be any different than Fox? Answer: it wouldn't be any different, except maybe more ads for gov't service.
During the past decade, things have only gotten worse for those on the left
This is true.
Also during that time, those liberals who had once held unchallenged dominance of the debate, as well as its eventual outcome, steadily increased the virulence of their efforts, in hopes of eventually regaining their monopoly of power, and with full intentions of never again relinquishing it
An absolute joke. I challenge the author to name anyone on the left with "unchallenged dominance of the debate". As far as increased "virulence of their efforts", that PERFECTLY describes the dirty money crowd and dirty tricks of the Bushistas, with Karl Rove in the lead, documented to have designated "Terrorism" as the official theme of the GOP. Not "safety of the American people -- Terrorism". There's a big difference between those two concepts. Rumsfeld is tied for most vicious, immediately on the morning of 9/11 telling everyone in the coterie to "GO MASSIVE, SWEEP IT ALL UP, RELATED OR NOT", to take full political and financial advantage of the deaths of thousands of Americans. Was the border shut down? Nooooo, that wouldn't buy any votes. Were the fighter jets scrambled? No, that would lose a valuable "2nd Pearl Harbor Incident", as PNAC states.
The Dems don't hold a candle to that level of viciousness.
Buried in the shadows of last week’s Senate debate over FCC rule changes is an attempt to reinstate the so-called “Fairness” Doctrine, whereby complaining listeners could literally shut down radio programs with which they disagree. The full force of the federal government would thus be available to systematically expunge “controversial” broadcasts such as Limbaugh’s
Ah ha! The real reason for the entire rant. It's an obvious falsehood, tho'. Any Fairness Doctrine merely means (a)you can say whatever f* stupid thing you want on the public's airwaves, and (b) you need to make time for the opposition.
Fox and others have already done a good job pretending to provide "the other side", without really doing so, by having lame-brains stand in for "the left", instead of people who know what they are talking about.
So now the left believes the time has arrived to strike a fatal blow to conservative America
Well, at least that one author believes its a "fatal blow". I doubt it. Nor does anyone else believe that tripe, on the left or the right, or in between.
It's interesting to note that there is a move afoot to assemble a "liberal network", to oppose Fox and ClearChannel's hold on the airwaves. Perhaps this essay is part of the reaction to that. |
