Jacob - Perhaps you should think of some of the interests on various parties here.

Iran desperately needs billions of dollars in investment, their assets are no where near as good as Iraq's.

SA is already attracting Russian dollars. Both SA & Iran are petrified not of being invaded by the USA, but by the fact that foreign investment dollars they need will be diverted to Iraq. This is a double whammy as their ability to sustain their export capabilities is restricted by lack of cash and their new competitor Iraq gets stronger relative to them.

Bush has the carrot for Putin in Iraq to lure Russia away from Iran.

Niether SA or Iran can expand or barely maintain their exports because their dollars are used to support their exploding social needs.
