In 2 Peter Ch 3 Peter writes about the coming of the day of the Lord. It's obvious from reading the 3rd chapter that the Lord has not come yet.

Peter talks about...verse 9...."the Lord is not slow about His promise"....10..."But the day of the Lord will come like a thief"....

Later in ch 3 Peter talks about the writing of Paul..."in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort"....

We know now what even the apostles back then did not, that the world was full of thousands of different peoples that had never heard of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When new tribes and people were discovered over the centuries the missionaries would come and preach Jesus. Gentile missionaries. The times of the Gentiles. Can you see it?
