This isn't about policy it's about the reality of a national election. Dukakis in a tank = Dean saying "Hamas are soldiers". Karl Rove can do one negative add, run it 100,000 times and walk away with the election. Believe it not, that crap works. Nothing to do with the ideas behind the statement. That's irrelevant. Makes Dean look like a political amateur and pathetically weak on terrorism, whether he really is or not. It Sticks.
