Give an inch, they take a mile. The TIA by DOJ is a classic example of incremental fascism.

Read "Dependent on DC", by Twight, or "Friendly Fascism" by Bertram Gross.

We are a very sophisticated nation, and can suppress and brutalize in very sophisticated ways, from the top down. It's important police be fairly stupid, on a par with Bush, so they can be manipulated into violating the Bill of Rights on a regular basis, "just like on tv!". As Junior says, "its much easier being dictator". That's very true, from Big Government, on down to the local street cop. 85% of cops are fine folks, I'm happy to call many friends, 10% won't do crime, but don't care, and 5% are vicious criminals that would kill your mother and frame you for drug possession. More to the point, they'll invade your house from an Ashcroft list, shoot you, and lie together about how it was necessary.

Worse, as these lists are compiled, they provide a recipe for neighborhood takeovers, in cases of "civil unrest", which could well happen if the same jokers stay in after '04. It'll be worse than Nixon, if things don't change.
