"I guess you would deny Steve Wozniak a little chump change to create the first Apple PC, when nearly everyone but a few nuts thought it was a waste of time and money. After all, it didn’t do anything and there was absolutely no market for it – everyone knew that. Right?"

You keep forgetting one thing: the early PC were just funny applications
of results from much more serious investments into defense and
science. Applications, not fundamentals. There were few other people who
did the same thing but less successful. After all, Mr.Wozniak have not
contacted me at the time asking to invest any money into his enterprise :-)

"Innovation is not planned and this is why centrally planned economies always lag behind an unplanned one in the long run"

Innovation is not planned, right. But innovation cannot happen without
education, research, and development, and without multi-million investments
in these areas you cannot get anything fundamental nowdays.
Thigh-master at most.

"Apparently, you don’t understand the term deadweight welfare loss so how can you presume to make a cogent rebuttal to my assertion. In fact, if you really understood my statement you would see that I am saying nearly the same thing as you - just more succinctly and accurately."

Apparently your eloquence and succinctness is grossly
self-overstated since I don't understand your flowery
slogans. Not everyone is in politics.

"You might want to look up the term “spontaneous order”. You may learn to understand and appreciate the nature of spontaneous order"

:-) After being a contributor to the science of nonlinear
dymamic, pattern formation and chaotic behavior of complex
systems about 20 years ago, I do not appreciate this kind of
populistic interpretations like "spontaneous order" etc.
Your attempt to demonstrate your superiority was funny.

"Yes – I’m an expert on where to spend my money. I value my government and my freedom to speak my mind and pursue my own interests - knowing full well that contracts will be enforced and the presumption that my possessions will be protected. These are freedoms I’m will to pay for."

It is good to see that now you can see and appreciate the
need for government, after I pointed to the flaw in your
logic about "free individuals" "pursuing heir own interests"
unlimitedly. The question only is why you are advocating now
to cut this support.

"What’s THE DARPA project"

Sorry, I meant the particular project which resulted in TCP/IP
and eventually the Internet.

"Actual performance indicates that centrally planned economies produce very little of the goods and services people actually want – that includes life saving medical procedures."

Yep, tell me please what people want in public health care in the US...
The wonders of "life saving medical procedures" for few is
not a solution. Preventive healthcare is.

"BTW, I’ve worked on and managed quite a few DARPA projects. For the most part, they are a welfare program to the very well educated."

As I already said, the welfare for "the very well educated"
is necessary to maintain the basic level of education in
this country, and provide means for exploration of nature
fundamentals.
