Youlu, On the surface this news looks great for silicon substrate vendors. And bad for compound supstrate (AXTI) vendors. However, the global comment made by the holder of this technology, "efficiencies comparable to those of more expensive compound". only holds true for typical "costs and benefits of silicon manufacturing". Add to it the expense of additional manufacturing processes and a yet-to-be-proven rate of efficient light-output and the merits of the press release are few. The jury (industry) is still out on this one, and I would not have expected them to take almost two years to reply to the 1st press release unless it was for real. Regards, Pullin'
