Stacking up clown bucks is now regarded as very bad form... Storing up trouble Asia's policy of accumulating foreign exchange reserves is a source of friction with an indebted US. The stockpiles are inefficient and add to the risk of instability in the global economy. But they are also evidence of the caution still felt in the region.
