Turning that logic around, if the Palestinians want the Israeli army to leave them alone, they should stop supporting terrorists and immediately turn in any they discover because doing otherwise will mean they face a violent backlash. I’m not saying that backlash is right or wrong, legitimate or illegitimate, but it is going to happen. The Palestinians may have been justified in their rage against the Isrealis, but they would have to have be pretty stupid not to recognize that in allowing and supporting terrorists they were creating a situation that would endanger their own security. This cuts both ways. Seemingly the only way to avoid this mess would have been for the Jews to leave that area 5,000 or 6,000 years ago to prevent the historical connection they have to it or for the Muslims to exclude it from there 8th century religious imperialism. Neither happened. Now we have the current mess. The US could at least cut itself loose from the mess by ceasing support of Israel, but given the American Jewish lobby and its power, that will not happen either. They are hardly the only group practicing slash-and-burn international politics in the US. The Cubans in the US are likely the only reason the US embargo against Cuba is still in place. It certainly can't be because the embargo is effective. Those who lost their homes and livelihoods to an abrupt transition between the two systems were not likely to appreciate these advantages. This sort of thing happens all the time. It does not normally result in a 50+ year feud with tanks, planes, missiles, and cannons. The confrontation between the Zionists and the Palestinians was particularly difficult because the transition was very abrupt, and because it was forced not by trends within a society, but by an artificially introduced foreign population supported by resources that the local population could not dream of matching. So all those oil-rich Arab states are poor? They have put no money and arms into this? Remember, in 1948, when the Jews declared the state of Israel, they were attacked by ALL their neighbors. This boiled down to a bunch of private citizens trying hold off numerous nation-states with organized professional armies. They almost lost. Caucasians entrepeneurs in Silicon Valley usually don't tap their families for capital. Asians commonly do. Are the Asians cheating? The Arabs were not the first to resort to terrorism. When the Zionists found it convenient, they used it without hesitation. When their enemies used it, it became evil. This is called war. And propaganda. US soldiers never massacre civilians, right? What was My Lai?
