You don't like the word "Left" or "Liberal" applied to you, although those on the right have learned to accept "Right."

My problem is that the left calls me right, because I support capitalism, free trade, globalization, and fiscal responsibility, and because I'm highly suspicious of the various "isms" that have achieved sacred status on the left.

The right calls me left, because I detest the social control agenda of the born again fascists, and because I'm a cautious multilateralist on FP issues.

So what am I? It depends on which issues you base your distinctions on.

I don't buy the notion that Democrats are "leftist" and Republicans "rightist". I don't think those titles can be reasonably applied to the moderate wing of either party.
