While this was profoundly treasonous, the American public weren't given enough facts to judge the case. The media will determine Bush's fate. So far, they like the profits that Bush provides them. When a childish Bush answers a sophomoric question about what collecting $200 Million for a non-primary amounts to, Bush responds: "Watch us." What he means is watch us paying all the right bribes.
