We certainly don't want to invade. If the House of Saud should collapse, the best bet would be to occupy the oil fields since they are on the coast, and let Jordan take over Mecca and the Holy areas.

Why would Jordan want to take over the troublesome parts while we take over the profitable parts?

What makes you think the Saudis - or the rest of the Muslims, who have a collective stake in the holy places - want Jordan involved? Is this a resurrection of the fantasy of Hashemite credibility?

The whole thing sounds to me like an Osama bin Laden wet dream.
