I've been trying to check on which kind of Media Center PCs use Hauppage solutions. While it looks like Microsoft has added some nice new features (FM, new Napster, etc.) and expects higher volume with Media Center 2004, I'm having a hard time figuring out which systems actually use Hauppage.

It looks like the new crop of Media Center notebooks, like those from Toshiba and others, seem to use solutions from a company called eMuzed. I'm not even sure if Hauppage has a solution in this space. Both eMuzed and Hauppage released similar "we support Media Center" press releases, but the one from eMuzed was either written better or indicates that they might have a little more integrated options for notebook vendors.

Overall, I'd say that while the info that came out from the Media Center 2004 launch looks good for Media Center PCs in the market (IMO), it's hard to gauge how much Hauppage will benefit from that.

I do think they'll benefit, but I don't have the same level of confidence that it will make a huge positive difference to their bottom line. As a result, I'm going to hold off purchasing more until I can get a better sense of what they are seeing in results.

If anyone learns about Media Center systems that use Hauppage, I'd be interested in hearing.

Thanks,
Mike
