We followed France's disastrous occupation in Viet Nam with our own disastrous war. Now we follow Russia's 20 year debacle in Afghanistan and find ourselves fighting the increasing resistance of those we initially aided and abetted to fight the Russians. And now we have the mess in Iraq. I read that Germany's Shroeder says he'll provide aid in the form of money to rebuild, but no troops. And then I read that more American reservists will be called up in the next four to five weeks.
