I just read that too, in the paper, then I downloaded the law. You are correct.

The new law, 571.030.3 states:
"Subdivision (1) of subsection 1 of this section does not apply to any person 21 years of age or older transporting a conceable firearm in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, so long as such concealable fiream is otherwise lawfully possessed, nor....."

571.030.1 states: "A person commits the crime of unlawful use of a weapon if he or she knowlingly:
(1) Carries a concealed weapon pon or about his or her person a knife, firearm, a blackjack, or any other weapon readily capable if lethal use; or.."

So, it would seem that now guns can be transported in the passenger compartment without a concealed carry permit. Ya know in reading several articles form our neighboring states, most sheriffs said, "If youcome in our state that concealed gun better come out and lay on the seat." or something to that effect. Must be OK not to be concealed.
