Yep. Reagan knew that the Soviet Union couldn't compete, and that pressure might bring about reform or collapse, while liberal Sovietologists were predicting that his behavior would play into the hands of hardliners and destroy detente. Along came Gorbachev, perestroika, glasnost, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the destruction of the Soviet Union. The all of the liberals scrambled to explain how Reagan had nothing to do with it.

Reagan knew that tax cuts and deregulation would unleash a long term boom. Liberal economists predicted the crowding- out of capital, inadequate investment, and the rise of a low wage service economy in the '90s. Apart from a mild recession during the Bush term, what actually happened was a long term boom, plenty of capital, and the creation of many well- paying jobs in the '90s. But liberals want to suggest that Clinton, who had little in the way of economic policy, caused all of this, not the fundamental framework created under Reagan, which Clinton barely touched.

Yes, some people go to a lot of trouble not to admit facts or rational inferences from facts.........
