You have refered to my "Nazi" comment several times, so I think I ought to reply. I suspect you see the Nazis as a cartoon bunch of Jack-Booted Anti-Semites. They had a strong ideological base, and were embraced to a large degree in the 30s by German Intellectuals. The people who ran the camps tended to have advanced degrees. Himmler came to Hitler out of the German "blood and soil" movement.

The Nazis embraced a "back to nature" concept at the core of their being. They had no use for brains, a strong body was the ideal.

If you trace the history of "Environmentalism," you will find its roots in the same Philosophers that the Nazis revered.
