Oh please. How exactly did France stab you in the back?
Let's start here:
Much of de Gaulle’s program consisted of an attempt to raise France to its former world stature. He argued for French parity with the United States in NATO decisions and promoted French development of atomic weapons. In 1966, he withdrew French troops from NATO and ordered the withdrawal of NATO military installations from France by Apr., 1967.

DeGaulle had a rather large chip on his shoulder. He thought France should emerge from WW2 as THE world power; certainly the leader of the Free World. This from a nation that fell in 6 weeks.
There were many, many other incidents. They take research.

Germany has not behaved as France has. With the possible exception of Iraq, in the crunches they have stood with us.

They did NOT withdraw from NATO. They did NOT order US troops off their soil.

Nor have the British, BTW.

You do not accept the possibility that allies can actually disagree when their "rights" and their own interests differ from those of the US.
Oh, but I do. The US and Canada have had numerous trade disputes. The same thing can be said of them that applies to the Germans. They did not tell us to go to Hades in the middle of the Cold War. Nor have they withdrawn from NATO or NORAD.

Don't present that funny list of microcountries some of whose name nobody has ever heard of, and some of the rest don't even have armies.
Were it not for the courage and determination of that microcountry, Britain, even the slovenly French would have learned the goosestep by now.

If America never existed, I would still be speaking my native tongue and the next three that I learned while in my teens.
German. Or Russian. You'd be speaking German or Russian. One or the other would won either WW1 or WW2. You think the Russians would have stopped at the East German border at the end of WW2?

I am not French
Ohioan. Or Iowa.

Actually the above does make the assumption that your profile is correct, which is doubtful.

P.S.: If the French did not help you guys out during your war for independence from the British, do you think you would be a subject to Her Majesty and speaking British English now?
P.S.: We probably would have won our revolution anyway. If no other way, the way the Irish won theirs: We would have become such pains in the ***es that eventually the Brits would be glad to be rid of us.

And you don't think the frogs aided us out of the kindness of their hearts and love of liberty, do you? If that's true, then nothing but altruism motivated US help to the Afghanis during their war against the Russians.

The British and French were at war at that time. Look it up.
