Grasso is not an innocent bystander. It's good that he is gone. But the funny thing is - that he will be able to buy the NYSE with all that money he will take from it.

Grasso's only sin appears to be that of having a tin ear when it came to understanding how this news would play.

While I agree, I'd say that his fundamental error was more subtle than that: he accepted, and trusted in the fulfillment of, the terms of a private contract.

He should have realized the class-envy warriors would have a field day...

That's for sure. The equity cultists are still licking their overwhelmingly self-inflicted wounds, and a highly-paid figure in finance makes for a most appetizing subject of villification.
