Even the mainstream business press now is starting to see that inflation is much higher than the CPI numbers show. The latest BUSINESS WEEK for example has a lengthy article detailing the proliferation of fees charged by a variety of businesses -- financial services, hotels, airlines, telecom, etc. And the CPI compilers apparently are missing these fees -- which amount to many tens of billions of dollars annually -- for the most part.
