I agree that it is much better to use trend-following indicators to keep you in a strong move. But I often use *divergences* between the momentum indicators and price for partial profit taking. My favourite profit taking indicator is a "turndown" in the ADX when above both the + and - DMIs. Keep an eye out for that one.

Hello LJ, I think it is also helpful to watch any "gap ups"( or down) keeping in mind the rule of thumb "that all gaps must be filled". There is the odd time that they don't but that is mostly on small gaps.
