Sounds like you're describing nothing more than a common coward. You're saying that the "wise" should "hide" from "evil"? No thanks, I'll stand and be counted. Incidentally, "hid[ing]" may take several forms, not the least of which might include immersing oneself in meticulously-constructed, nonsensical and unproven conspiratorial fantasies. Something to ponder, perhaps. You're not interested in new threats (which are really old threats) to liberty and freedom? Of course I am. And the greatest threat to freedom is complacency, which counts among its many adherents you folks so completely unaffected by political developments that you see fit to invent great, layered myths about massive, clandestine political plots. I would think you'd at least have an open mind and research it yourself. And I would think you'd notice not only that my mind is open, but that it's incumbent upon you to substantiate your unproven - and, yes, by this point absurd - claims. Because the info is all out there at your fingertips. So these massive, secretly conspiring government groups have left hints on the internet? Goodness! The CFR member list reads like a government roster yet you don't care what the CFR agenda is? All I've seen is a single obscure, nondescript link to a list of names which you not only have continually refused to give any more information on, but in a previous post this evening described as "dated." How seriously should I take this "source," again? Even the Libertarian think tank the Cato Institute views government as more of a threat than you seem to. Actually, many of us believe that the Cato Institute has sold out on certain traditional Libertarian values. In particular, they take a much more flexible stand on deregulation than a hardcore Libertarian like myself would, so apparently they trust the government far more than I. And their study on the government project Total Information Awareness is very revealing. And the gov is linking that TIA project to the Dept of Homeland Security. Right. That's definitely something to be concerned about. But being concerned about the Patriot Act doesn't require...or prove, for that matter...anything about grand, Illuminati-styled overlords plotting our demise. That sort of nonsense, in my opinion, detracts from the central issues. To me, measures like TIA, et al , say more about the willingness of some individuals to sacrifice security for freedom, to refuse to take responsibility for their own actions, and to repeatedly miss the proverbial 'big picture.'A dept created out of the aftermath of the fake terror 9-11 attacks. I can assure you, personally, that what we experienced here on September 11, 2001 was nothing short of real terror. And if you're saying that it was orchestrated by the U.S. government, I'd love to see some evidence. (FYI, that's the central premise of this thread and all that has been conclusively proven at this point, in my opinion, is that there is simply no overestimating ignorance in certain spheres.)And blah blah. There you go. You don't want to know any of it or you would research it yourself instead of ranting against my posts. It's interesting that you continue to brandish this highly unusual tact. Have you always insisted that other individuals find ways to support your flimsily-constructed arguments for you? It sounds like a form of emotional defense mechanism or, perhaps, the last vestiges of adolescent obstinence. Very strange. LPS5
