It's probably a typo, but it is remarkably freudian. Yes, I think justice was severed. The act of justice was cut away and lost in the trial because the jury was kept so out of touch, but justice prevailed in another sense. American society has adapted to the point that OJ cannot sell juice or cars and he cannot get into the least altercation without threat of immediate arrest. There is a comfort in knowing that in the America we used to have, the America before Ashcroft and Tom DeLay, that the state has to go through some hurdles and do so correctly before a citizen can be denied the right to play golf or fly around the country. The dead mother of O.J.'s children still has, or at least had, one champion of justice. The trial lawyers who see profit in repairing injustice will be ever vigilant, if not for the American way, for their own well being. That has and hopefully will continue to keep us safer than a new buearocracy of agents with a quota of evil doers to disappear. TP
