Well, communist system really helps those who engaged in social science or arts. I saw a pretty good documentary film(VHS tape) name "From Mao to Mozart" about Issac Stern in China in 1979. Stern was dead last year so as the VP of Shanghai Conservatory Tang Jia Zheng who got the inteview. It was pretty funny those musicians who came to the US and were all disappear. At those time, the most famous young singers, like Zhang Jian Yi and Hu Xiao Ping, who came to aboard, were never heard of now. Those who stay and not confuse by short term money gain turn out to be that they have real good vision. Chen Xia Young, the conductor of Shanghai Symphoney Orchestra, are now the president of China Opera House. Mr. Chen went to Japan and Hong Kong for a short time. Lucky him who came back China in a very short time. I saw Chen conduct Shanghai Opera Orchestra and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. Really like his performance. And the ticket was cheap at that time. sh-symphony.com shcmusic.edu.cn About Mao, I read that his daughter has difficult to fund her treatment of kidney disease. No more universal health care.

You must be living in a different level in China when Mao reformed the whole country. How many million people got killed because of his stupidity! What heritage did he give to Chinese people? How many years did the schools closed and students send to remote country side to "repair the Earth"? He wasted millions of lives of those already dead and the living human beings. He did his best to destroy China, imho. Chinese would have a lot better life and gain much higher respect in the world without him. I have been enjoying your posts for very long time. But, I am very disappointed right now. Nevertheless, Chinese finally get the chance to prove to the world that China can be a peaceful and productive nation in the world.
