Remind me how you characterized the mother of the groom?

Here, let me help you:

Who was acting on firmly held convictions with the best of intentions and who was humorless and petty and inconsiderate and ungracious?

Also, how could assigning blame not be even remotely your objective in floating the hypothetical when you said:

Now, the bride's family, knowing me, is aware of my beliefs. Presumably, they would have been expecting my attire. The rest of the guests, however, were surprised. And the groom's family was quite distressed at how I could be so disrespectful and insulting to the principals. The mother of the groom wanted me bounced from the event.

How should the parties have reacted to me? With tolerance? With acceptance? With admiration for my convictions? Or should I have been bounced?

Now now
everyone who found something wrong is wrong. Right? Wasn't that the game?

Or perhaps everyone who found someone else wrong was wrong. Right? No? dang...

well, how about if everyone who thought someone might be wrong about something was wrong- could that be it?
