WWJD What would Jacob do?
1. Have you considered the source of bru's information? It is from professional champions of the 'upperdog'. ie people who's job it is to 'protect' the majority religion in America, similar kind of folk make a living out of protecting the rights of millionaire CEO's,.
It is a Christian web site with a area for persecution, where they have to fill up pages with news however irrelevant.
And here I got the mistaken impression that Jacob was more a champion of the underdog - What would you do if poor people were targeted for conversion?
2. Interestingly India with its swelling middle class do nothings, some have also cottoned on to the idea that you can make a good living championing the cause of religions that have survived for 3000 years. Such laws are unenforceable, and are pure political gamesmanship - like the proposal to ban cow slaughter. Surely an admirable idea, that can be defended on many levels like ahimsa, environmental impact etc. but hardly among the top 1000 problems faced by the country.
3. India's 2.4% Christians are mostly found in pockets where they can be upto 30% of the population and are in no way persecuted. Found mostly in Kerala, Goa, and the North Eastern States, they are well educated and capable of defending their rights.
4. The real 'good' that can come out of this misplaced political ploy, is that it might encourage some to act to improve the plight of the underprivileged, via organic local efforts.
5. There are a hundred other problems, that need more than symbolism to fix, ecological disasters - the dropping water table, desertification. Population imbalances - in lopsided population growth in different regions. Alarming sex ratio in the 0-6 age group caused by killing(aborting) baby girls. These are more worthy of your attention Jacob if you want to address real issues.
6. If all of India became Muslim Hindu or Christian, none of the real problems would change a bit.
