I propose a thread policy.

If anybody proposes a hypothetical, the next fifty posts have to be entirely devoted to clarifying and fleshing out the hypothetical. Only when everybody thinks all the ambiguities are ironed out, motives clear, facts resolved, is anybody allowed to start substantive comment on the hypo.
