I was unaware that the religious motive had been disavowed, and that the basis for defending his position had become statistics. I might agree that there is no compelling reason to force him to take all comers, and I certainly agree that he need not be a bigot, but I would be suspicious of the statistics and wonder if he were being too uptight, frankly.
