i'm not happy with any of them...

the only thing that puts me in the dean camp
is that he's building his support base out of
ordinary people... and he's listening to them.

listening is important

Same ole in Baghdad ...

At least one rocket-propelled grenade struck a hotel housing U.S. military officials and support staff Saturday morning, but nobody was injured, a coalition spokesman said.

And in the US

I find it curious that the article in which George Bush stated there was no evidence linking Saddam Hussein to the attacks of 9-11 (Tribune, Sept. 18) was only three inches long, of smaller and a different type than any surrounding article, tucked away on page A-6.
Two compelling reasons justifying this war (and the enormous sums of money spent "liberating" the Iraqi people and their oil) have been found false. The fear that Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and that he was involved in the 9-11 attacks fostered support among a terrified populace. Will the news media rely on the short memories and knee-jerk patriotism of many Americans in assuming that this critical information warrants no more space than a "subscript" in a sea of advertisements?
The grim reality that is war, glossed over and tucked away, makes room for the more important role of mass media: teaching unquestioning allegiance and consumption.
