R&R is a wonderful morale booster for troops and families and a well-deserved break after working 24/7 for six months. I saw a "History" program yesterday on Sex during WWI. The French were upset because of the declining birthrate caused by the fact that none of their troops had been on leave. So the very openly put in a "Sex leave" to allow the troops to go home and Father some children.

More importantly, we will now have unfettered access to the real story as told by the Grunts who are living it. And it's just about time!!! Hopefully the liberal media will include their stories in every front section!! And if anyone doubts that we in fact do have a very left leaning media in general, I challenge them to go back to the late 1950's and early 60's (library microfilm on every national paper...pick any day front page, look for adverbs and adjectives in every sentence...and the lack of them, versus the papers of today...)

"They will be stunned by anyone not fully supporting their efforts." exactly what happen over there, now they get the news on television.. Kennedy's comments came a shock to them. they also do not understand all the negative comments coming out from the press about had bad the situation is over there.. This according to a lt. gen. this morning on fox. Kennedy is supporting the enemy and giving them cause to continue on when they see this lack of support coming from some of the Democrats.

However, I doubt we will be seeing anyone reporting these any time soon - it doesn't mesh with the political objectives* of most of the press. I do hope I am proven wrong by this but I cant imagine seeing a Newsweek/Time cover "IS THE MEDIA LYING ABOUT IRAQ?" any time soon. * Not implying a conspiracy - that political objective (for many) may simply mean being critical of government (to the point of ignoring the whole truth)... particularly when you dont like the administration in power. It's obviously easy enough to do (see John's posts about Said, AIDS in Africa funding, education etc. for a running example of this...).
