The frightening significance of October 6
Monday, October 6, is a key date in Israeli and Arab history, as it is the 30th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War against Israel...a war that the Arab and Muslim world has always maintained it won.

It so happens that this year, Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) falls once again on October 6, as it did in 1973.

The United States and Israel would be surprised by news of an Iranian nuclear test because they are working on the assumption that Iran cannot become nuclear before late 2005.

DEBKA believes that the Iranians have a nuclear device built with the help of North Korean, Chinese and Pakistani scientists. Its intelligence sources are indicating that Iran and North Korea are contemplating simultaneous nuclear tests on October 6th. While there is STILL no hard evidence, and we certainly hope these events will not come to pass, the danger appears to be real.

North Korea and Iran may believe that a double test would head off American and Israeli reprisals.

We don't know what the reaction to such a test would be throughout the world. But we do recognize that there is a very real danger for Wall Street. The realization that Iran -- a state that sponsors terrorism -- has nuclear weapons could hit Wall Street hard. There's the potential for a nosedive of 500 points or more.

The information about the Iranian plans comes to us from DEBKA-Net-Weekly, an intelligence source included in our www.21stcenturyalert.com service as a bonus. It was DEBKA, you'll recall, that helped us forecast the U.S. invasion of Iraq more than a year before it happened. DEBKA's intelligence in the Middle East is second to none, and we take its warning of this impending nuclear test very seriously.
