"I suspect we are both guilty of tainting the information
we perceive with the "insight" we bring to it."

I never said I was perfect. That's why I let time & events
unfold in forming/changing my POV. I refuse to cling to an
inflexible POV..... regardless of the facts. I let the
facts speak for themselves & form my POV around them.

"I was quite displeased to see a dissident point of view
criticized as being unpatriotic."

If that happened here then it was what was said, not
because of a dissenting POV. That's a fact. I believe that
many folks, media outlets & politicians have been quite
unpatriotic since 9/11. Again, this is part of my near
complete disdain of the liberal left - blatant lies &
deceit - fear mongering - gross exaggerations & NEVER,
NEVER retracting their obvious lies & deceptions after they
had been irrefutably exposed by time & events - instead
they relentlessly move on to the next round of lies &
deceit, even if it brings harm to America, our troops, etc.

IMO, it's one thing to express genuine concern & doubts but
later admit many of those concerns were shown to be
unnecessary as time & events unfolded. It's all together
another thing to relentlessly continue their fear
mongering, supporting Saddam, the Talaban, France, Germany
& their lies (supporting anybody but the USA). They
continue their outright lies & deceit in the face of
irrefutable fact when we are in a global war on terrorism
& the conflicts in Afghanistan & Iraq. Far to many folks
on SI, in the media & left wing politicians are guilty of
this numerous times IMO. I don't recall any of them ever
admitting they were wrong about anything ever.

Senator Kerry is a prime example of being unpatriotic - his
verbal assault on President Bush's foreign policies the war
when we were fighting in Iraq were despicable & quite
unpatriotic (his regime change speech). The fact that he
personally said he would tone down his attacks when the
shooting started (only one week earlier) made this
unpatriotic assault even more disgusting. Add to it that he
NEVER, NEVER admitted he was wrong (he repeatedly defended
it) is so typical of the liberal left. And the fact that NO
ONE from the liberal left spoke out against this horrific
act of unpatriotic, despicable behavior is quite telling of
the policies & practices of the liberal left. It's
typically hypocritical to blatantly hold these double
standards.

That was but one of numerous examples of unpatriotic
behavior by the liberal left that turned my stomach.

"I think there is nothing more American than the expression
of contrary points of view."

I couldn't agree more. Too bad that the liberal left can't
stick to facts & reality when doing so. That is quite un-
American. Scare tactics, fear mongering, gross
exaggerations, lies & deceit made up the basis of what many
called their dissenting POV. To me that's not a dissenting
POV. That's propaganda. It's giving aid & comfort to the
enemy. It's friggin' unpatriotic IMO.

And no amount of facts or reality changed these relentless
assaults one iota. They NEVER, NEVER admitted when they
were wrong or when they were irrefutably caught in their
lies. Instead they relentlessly continued with even more
lies & deceit.

It's that & their inflexible POV after time & events unfold
clearly showing they were horrifically wrong that has me
completely turned off to the tripe they spew. It's the
personal attacks they instigate, the name calling & the
elitist attitude they constantly practice while falsely
accusing other of this very thing, regardless of the facts.

I hope I never cling to a philosophy so blindly &
relentlessly.

"I will limit myself (for now) to what I think are the big
issues.

1. I do not like seeing the United States act as the
world's policeman. I don't think it is our responsibility.

2. I do not like seeing the United States act unilaterally.
I think it is a bad tactic and undermines potentially good
results."

1. Well the UN & NATO don't exactly have a track record of
success. If the US didn't drag them kicking & screaming
into doing the right thing, they'd still be debating what
to do in North Korea from the 1950's. The fact that the
world changed dramatically on 9/11 left the US with the
option of getting the UN to act immediately & with force if
necessary, or gather a coalition of the willing to do so.

President Bush did precisely what his #1 responsibility
was - protect our national security. He tried to get the UN
to act appropriately. They didn't, so he got a coalition of
the willing. I don't want my country's fate in the hands of
the UN or NATO with all the serious problems they have.
Their abysmal track record in protecting recognized,
democratic sovereign nations from rouge nations &
terrorists, maintaining peace & protecting human rights is
well established.

2. The US didn't act unilaterally. They had support of the
UN in Afghanistan. The US had 12 long years of Iraq's
violations of UN sanctions & resolution 1441 that warned of
serious consequences (ergo support, regardless of France,
Germany & Russia's tactics to try to keep their dirty
secret deals with Iraq secret). Plus we a coalition of the
willing when they took out Saddam's regime.

Your concerns here are completely unfounded, but they are
among the laundry list of typical unrelenting false
assertions made by the liberal left against this
Administration.

Spin away if you wish. This is reality.
