And those unnamed politicians in the media? I doubt they were any more wrong than my last discussion about unpatriotic behavior. What a shame that the last 10 years has allowed our standards to be lowered to such an extent that deplorable behavior is now acceptable, the truth can be parsed, spun & cast aside for false perceptions, propaganda, deceit & outright lies that have become business as usual. Hypocrisy rules the day. What a crying shame. This global war on terrorism isn't another Viet Nam or anything close to it. Any comparison between Viet Nam & the war on terrorism, which includes Afghanistan & even Iraq, is ludicrous on its face. Why do you think that we are capturing so many foreign terrorists in Iraq lately? Why are they targeting our troops & Iraqi infrastructure? They know that the US has people who want to appease them. They know that the US has people who cannot stand bloodshed regardless of the reason for it. They know if they kill enough of our soldiers, people here will scream to cut & run & that's is exactly what they want (and are counting on happening). They also know that if we are successful in Iraq, there future is most likely doomed. Their real desire to rule the ME first, then the world will be in real jeopardy. A successful, democratic Iraq will be something that Arabs & Muslims alike will be able to look to & yearn to have for themselves: not more Jihad, bloodshed, radical mullah's, OBL's & tyrannical rulers. Freedom & self-determination will be quite an appealing contrast to what they now live under. Why is the liberal left doing everything they can to portray the situation in Iraq as another Viet Nam? Why do they hype & exaggerate only the negatives & completely ignore all of the real progress? Because they too know that success in rebuilding Iraq & allowing a democratic government take charge will be a huge success in the global war on terror. They know full well it will help stabilize the ME. Since that will be good for the current Administration, they too don't want success at any cost (based on their own words, actions & deeds thus far). I want the war on terrorism fought in their back yard, not here. I don't want my government sitting back & second- guessing itself because of the ghosts of Viet Nam. I want my government to take it to the terrorists until they realize we won't back down or stop until they completely stop their horrific activities of attacking innocent civilians. Until then I want no dialog, no debates & no appeasement. And I want absolutely no part of making them the victim & the US the criminal. We are no longer talking about the ability to kill hundreds or thousands at a time in this new age of terrorism (aided by rouge, evil dictators with WMD's). We are talking about tens or hundreds of thousands killed at a time. We are talking about unspeakable catastrophes. We are talking about global chaos & economic calamities that will bring poverty to hundreds of millions if the terrorists are successful. And don't give me that BS about terrorists not being in bed with these evil rouge leaders. They may not agree or even like each other, but they have a common enemy, which has & will continue to bring them together. Please feel free to protest your Viet Nam. That is your right. I'm glad we have a President who is working hard to protect people like you & me so you can do your thing & I mine without fear of terrorists & WMD's. At least it is now less likely than if we had done nothing since 9/11.
