Hi TLC,

Just returned from attending one the better half's field trips - San Antonio Mission, Indian bedrock mortars and cave pictographs (Good stuff). In the less than an hour since I've returned, I've

1) Seen CBS news prominently feature Rove's problem, as discussed by TP.

see cbsnews.com

2) Read your insightful article. Thanks. Reminds me of No. 4 on Peters' failed states factors

The Seven Factors

These key "failure factors" are:

Restrictions on the free flow of information.
The subjugation of women.
Inability to accept responsibility for individual or collective failure.
The extended family or clan as the basic unit of social organization.
Domination by a restrictive religion.
A low valuation of education.
Low prestige assigned to work.

Now I'm no big fan of Carlisle or Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Peters (having seen him on the tube), but I'll take ideas from wherever.

3) Seen a lot of speculation on the local news about why there are suddenly a plethora of limos in "my backyard". Something's up. We've even got paparazzi. Topping the speculative list is a Ben & J Lo nuptial. Think I should've stayed with the bedrock mortars.
