A little bit of background here - there is a long tradition of smart-ass legal opinions in the field of admiralty law in the 5th Circuit. This is, I must admit, is the funniest I've read yet, but there have been others almost as funny. (I have an LL.M. in admiralty law from Tulane, in the heart of the 5th Circuit - so far, that and four bucks has sufficed to get me a vente latte, but I keep hoping.)

I was reading thru a case at the SEC while trying to discover if there were any new proposed changes to the PDT rule.

Part of the judgement against this guy was that he be permanently prohibited from violating a certain rule that was in place. I wonder, does that mean the rest of us can violate it if we want? Sometimes you gotta wonder about these people..lol..

Decided to post the text (bolded relevant section) and link:

PRAYER FOR RELIEF
WHEREFORE, plaintiff respectfully requests the Court to enter a final judgment against defendant Bartlett that:

A. Permanently enjoins him from violating Exchange Act Section 10(b) and Exchange Act Rule 10b-5;

B. Orders him to disgorge, with prejudgment interest, all illicit profits realized from the conduct described above;

C. Orders him to pay a civil money penalty pursuant to Exchange Act Section 21A [15 U.S.C. § 78u-1]; and

D. Grants such other and further relief as the Court deems just and appropriate.
