I'm finding these stories quite disturbing. It's because I have been on nuclear radiation safety courses. Sealed sources, like an unfired DU bullet are quite safe as the radiation is low, and alpha particles (for example) can be stopped by a single sheet of paper. In unsealed form, where you can breath in the dust for example, an alpha source is going slam your DNA with a radiation sledge hammer.
