I visited the Alhambra in connection with a meeting. We got the full treatment including the historical bit. They never mentioned that the Islamic period was idyllic, just a period of relative peace which came to an abrupt end in 1492. They also pointed out that the Islamic empire was very weak at the time.
As you know the coming of the Christians brought the inquisition and other "nice" things like the expulsion of the Jews and the Moslems.
