note that US KIA in Vietnam in 1964 were only 137, and 1965 only saw 1,369.

There were 16,000 military personnel in Vietnam during 1963.. primarily advisors.

So OF COURSE there were fewer casualties then because there were fewer personnel operating in less overt conflict.

In 1965, military strength escalated to over 200,000 due to the events in the Gulf of Tonkin, and casualties rose due to the fact that US forces were directly committed to the battle.

Until we are past the first year, with an occupation that still "only" kills a few Americans per day, can we safely say that this is not Vietnam. I'm hoping, but it doesn't look good, not with that 40% growth in IED attacks, month over month.

Coming from a "cut and run" advocate such as yourself, nothing would "look good" enough... Face it Bilow, you've placed yourself in a political position that even Carol Mosely Brown isn't advocating... People of your ilk would simply pull all of our forces out of Iraq right now, without any regard for the likelihood of civil (and likely regional) war that would result..

So showing any concern for your opinion is simply a wasted effort.. As are any further responses on your part to my posts. I'm looking for a VIABLE solution that maintains regional stability, and hopefully prompts some form of budding social and economic change in the region.

I want to avoid what I see as an even greater menace threatening to rise 5-10 years from now, should Islamo-Fascism be permitted to take root in the region. A region currently without much economic hope.

So frankly Bilow, we'll just have to agree to disagree..

Send your defeatist BS to someone who might be foolish enough to be swayed by your tripe. Those who take great pride in lending aid and comfort to the enemy, encouraging them to wage even more attacks upon our forces as they hope "cut and runners" like yourself will be able to force Bush and/or his successors into one more international humiliation.
