Every coin and bill clearly states: "In God We Trust" <g> > That's why Jay and other atheistic Asians have an intrinsic distrust of it and prefer the slogan "In Gold We Trust". How can they trust a horde of crazed, superstitious westerners with their rose-coloured wallets, through which the average Hong Kongese views the world. Right Ramsey? Gold has a real down to earth aspect to it, whereas pixelated phragmented photons whizzing around and magnetically memorized on some Green$pan computer somewhere could go poof into the aether at any time, leaving nothing but a memory of what was. Memories are not transactable stores of value. A wallet full of plastic or paper isn't much better, even if the notes have cunning anti-forgery technology built in. We western atheists have lived with crazed superstitious people for so long that we know they only trust that big spook in the sky so far, and they in truth keep a close eye on the guy behind the curtain with the printing press. Any magician worth his salt knows to point somewhere else, such as to God, while the guy behind the curtain performs the miracle. We all know that too. But we go along with the game because it works and is fun and as long as we all believe, we can enjoy the show. As long as the guy behind the curtain doesn't mess up, by pushing "Print" or "Pixelate" too much, we have a gusher of magical CDMA2000 phragmented photons, pixelated, encrypted and swishing around the world, server to server, paying for our purchases. It's a bit like Catholics go along with the infallible Popal encyclicals on the evils of contraception, but you can't tell me that the low Italian birth rate is due to sexual abstention or immaculate control rather than immaculate conception. In the bedroom, when the Pope's not looking, I bet there are a few Hail Marys and self-absolution. Gold just doesn't have magic. It's clunky. Sure, the Aztecs have supernatural beliefs and make all sorts of incantations holding their gold totems up to ward off evil spirits, but at some stage they'll realize it's just a lump of metal and there isn't really any magic.
