He can't. The reason this is the number one story is because someone leaked over the weekend that Tenet had asked the FBI to investigate. It is every Democrat's "wet dream" to nail Rove. If the source does not confess, and Novak does not tell, It may die in about a month.

Could Rove have been this stupid? Stranger things have happened. In any case, expect everybody to run, run, run, with this the next few days.

I've always liked Novak, why he would reveal the identity of a CIA agent is baffling. I know you don't like the "t" word used here, but this comes close to treason, imo.

I assume that your assessment would apply even more so to the leaker, no?
